Like many Master Craftsmen, Rodger Barrow truly loves seeing the fine works of other skilled woodworkers. For years he has been supplying some of the most beautiful species of wood to Master Craftsmen around the state of North Carolina.
During this time, Rodger soon found that there really was no central place in this area for these fine craftsmen and craftswomen to display their work. Many of the fine crafts galleries tended to focus on pottery, artwork, glasswork, etc. and would only have a small section, if any, that focused on the beauty of fine wooden objects and none truly focused solely on the works of North Carolina Craftsmen.
Rodger's first foray into displaying the works of North Carolina Craftsmen was when he offered his location for a juried exhibition of the works of emerging woodworkers from the woodworking program at Eastern Carolina University. For many of these students, this was the first time that they were able to display their creations to a large audience while at the same time receiving critiqued feedback from those who juried the show. The acceptance of this exhibition was so positive that Rodger decided to create a dedicated gallery for North Carolina Master Woodworkers.
North Carolina has 200 year old tradition of fine woodworking. Rodger simply wanted to provide one central location for North Carolina Master Woodworkers to display and sell their works.
As you can see from the Guidelines for Submission, acceptance into the Gallery is by juried submission. By setting high standards for acceptance into the Gallery, Rodger has insured that the works truly represented the quality and heritage of North Carolina's finest woodworkers.
In addition to providing current works for sale, Rodger offers a conduit for clients that would like to commission a particular craftsperson for a piece that is unique to their own requirements.
Rodger and his wife Debbie have created an atmosphere of "celebration" for the works that they have in the Gallery and their love for each and every one of them truly comes through when you meet them.
